Brian Vogel, Principal & Head Business Performance Coach
To understand and build trust with people I believe you first have to start with where they are from, where they have been, and understand where they are going.
That being said I was born and raised in Nashville, Tennessee. During these formative years I would say I was most influenced by the sport of swimming and the discipline that was required to train 2x a day, maintain good grades, and enjoy the usual high school festivities. After high school, I attended college in the Midwest where I continued my swimming career. After graduating with a degree in Marketing, I worked with a wholesale distributor of building supplies as a Marketing/Administrative Services Manager as well as coached a girl’s H.S. swim team on the side. A couple years later, I decided to hang up my corporate America career and coach swimming full-time.
For three years I was a United States Swimming Coach and worked with clubs in Germantown, TN, Huntsville, AL, and Westmont, IL. In the fourth year of my coaching career I moved over to the collegiate side and served as the Head Men’s & Women’s Swimming & Diving Coach at Northeastern Illinois University. It was here that I came to realize I wanted a career where I could potentially coach outside the pool. So I hung my whistle per se and went back to graduate school where I received my MBA with a concentration in Human Resources.
With MBA in hand I landed my first role in HR at GTE (now Verizon) in Dallas, TX. After five years and a gigantic merger with Bell Atlantic, I uprooted the wife I met in graduate school and our 1 year old daughter and moved to San Antonio to work with a superb company – USAA. After three years at USAA, I was convinced by a headhunter to move to Austin to be the big fish in a smaller pond at a mid-size company. After working with small & medium sized companies and partnering with my wife in taking an idea she had for a non-profit to one of the most successful grass root charities in Austin, I decided to start my own business that aligns to my true passion ~ maximizing performance.
My purpose is simple but not always easy ~ to guide businesses and leaders to their full potential. I believe success in business and life is a disciplined process forged by diligent planning and execution aligned to goals and values. I am truly fortunate because I get to work day in and day out with passionate leaders charting a course to reach new heights and successes. And the best part...I get to go along for the ride!
